I received a phone call in February from a senior Executive from Tackle, which is the Umbrella organisation which all 150+ Prostate Support Groups in the UK are affiliated with.
The call came my way from one of the senior executives who asked me whether I would be interested in taking on the position of Board Member with specific responsibility for fundraising, having heard about my background. During our conversation, he was quite astonished to hear about the work of our group in Wrexham. When I replied that my involvement with our group is the main priority for me and politely declined his invitation, he went on to ask me all about what we are doing in North East Wales. What I didn’t realise was that he hung on to every word, and asked if I would be comfortable in showcasing our group in their monthly magazine. I was hugely surprised to hear from him that we have the biggest membership base in the whole of the UK, and deemed as being the most successful.
