MONTHLY REPORT – 2nd SEPTEMBER 2026
Meeting Minutes
Prior to the meeting commencing, members joined together to sing Happy Birthday to Mark Connolly and Ces Hannaby.
A total of 31 members attended the meeting. There were 6 apologies received, and we were pleased to welcome 2 new guests.
Treasurer Ian Edwards proudly confirmed that, after a lengthy process, the group has officially been granted charitable status. Ian also outlined the governance framework and compliance requirements that accompany our new status. Congratulations and thanks were extended to Ian for his hard work in achieving this significant milestone.
Sue Norman provided an update on the recent Golf Day and Auction, which proved to be an enormous success. She also shared plans for the forthcoming Carden PSA Testing Event, noting that there may be some limited scope to accommodate additional requests that have been received.
Chairman Malcolm presented a very positive report, explaining that the group is closer than ever to bringing Focal Therapy to our region. However, he also shared correspondence from the Health Board Executives, which did not demonstrate the same level of enthusiasm as the group had hoped.
Phil reported on correspondence received via MP Andrew Ranger from the Health Board. The correspondence declined the group’s request to be involved in forthcoming discussions and planning relating to service improvements, which was viewed as a disappointing setback.
The business networking group CONNECTUS has adopted our charity as a partner for its forthcoming event at Hotel Wrexham next month.
We were joined by Chris Brand the organiser a fundraising group based on football results. Participants are encouraged to nominate a charity each month to be elected to receive a donation. Group member Darren Harrison was this month’s winner and we received a £1308 cheque. See attached picture.

David Hughes, a prostate cancer sufferer now living in the Conwy area after growing up in Wrexham, has approached the group for support. David is a well-known musician and has generously offered to bring his tribute band to perform free of charge at future fundraising events.
Extensive discussions took place with new members and others, who shared their individual prostate cancer journeys and experiences. These conversations highlighted the continued value of the group’s support network.
With all business concluded, an extremely successful meeting was brought to a close at 8:40 pm.
