We acknowledge that the hard work invested in preparing our local MP to support the bill to allow men over a certain age to have a PSA test was rejected in Parliament at the end of November and several reasons were given. From a Wrexham perspective and being cynical, our group officers believe the thought of finding the finances to proceed and deploy the proposal would possibly be too much of a burden. Our annual Christmas celebration event at Hotel Wrexham went off without a hitch. In fact, it was a massive success with 50 members enjoying a buffet and superb entertainment by an Elton John Tribute singer called Steve Daley.
Such was the level of success, we have agreed to consider whether there would be sufficient interest to have a similar event in the summer months to raise funds for our group. Entertainment options being Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, Frank Sinatra.
Great feedback from senior Urology Nurse Sam Smythe is that through our relationship with Shooting Star, the specialist bed she requested will soon be in place.
Our special guests who will be attending our January meeting are Nicky Bateman and Katie Shaw who will be briefing us on the success of their recent sponsored silence held at the Spire Yale hospital.
Advance notice us given for the group to recruit someone into a new post of Support Group Ambassador through an EGM in January.
